#TIDELC Calendar Update #chsresist

TIDELC Calendar Update

We’re building a comprehensive calendar as part of TIDELC. Most events should include a link to a Google Calendar-compliant event listing so it can be copied to personal and institutional calendars.

As you can see from this screenshot at left, from Noon, June 16, we have a lot going on, and we know several events are missing here. Random Facebook entries aren't going to keep us coordinated and up to date. Facebook exists to show you advertising and paid content, not to connect you with your friends in Charleston so you can overthrow the Billionaire Oligarchy. National organiazions mining our Lowcountry resistance hotbed for partiipation and donations don't have the needed local focus. We have to come together to build something that works locally.

We need your events, fast and now to make this work.

Nothing is more desperately needed than a comprehensive planning and events calendar for the Lowcountry Progressive community, and nothing is harder to do. However, we are going to try. The Calendar can be found at https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=1473b164d956fb34540539491edda5684a4672ad29153b2b4b18da4e7a3e3aa6%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America%2FNew_York online.

Organize Now or Lose in November 2025

In November 2025, nearly every local Town and City will have municipal elections. MAGA has targeted our Towns and Cities for takeover and these thinly voted elections will be easy pickings for the Trumpsters if we're not organized before the date for candidates to file has passed. If will be too late in the fall when we can't put people on the ballot. The incredible struggle to exercise free speech in Charleston is an example of what happens when local municipal governments fall under right wing influence.

You can also send an Ical file which we can import that can be generated from any calendar program or website for any event. These calendar listings should include a link to a relevant blog post and the same basic 5W information mentioned above.

We need particular help at the moment with African American, LGBTQ and Latinx Community listings. We know we're missing a lot of Juneteenth stuff. Just send us an Ical file, link to a listing on your Google Calendar or a detailed text description to wjhamilton29464@gmail.com. We can't read, retype and transcribe information included in a graphics file, regardless of how pretty it is. Include a link to your content and we'll try to get people there.

We’ll provide updates as we try to find a way to make it work. Initial plans are to have people create a calendar listing on their own Google Calendar and send it to one of several people working on the calendar to be added. It’s not going to be perfect, so everyone should check Blue Sky for postings under #chsresist or #TIDELCact

#CHSresist Free Speech Litigation Coffee House Chat, Thur. June 19

From William J. Hamilton, III,                                 Atty, Ex. Dir. Lowcountry Up is Good,                 PAC, Inc.
To - Local Press and Media,                                 Online Outlets
For - Immediate Release
Dated - June 16, 2025, Week One, Day  three ( Daily Theme - Living Wage and Unions for All) Five Weeks for Freedom, Liberate our Lowcountry

Support the Lawsuit to return Free Speech to Charleston. William Hamilton, the Attorney litigating the Free Speech Case against the City of Charleston, Brown v. Charleston, will have an informal coffee discussion in the patio area of City Lights Eastside. (12 Line St., Charleston, SC 29403) Thursday, June 19th. At 10:15 am.

Registration (optional) and updates can be found on our TIDELC Calendar listing for the Chat,

City Lights is not involved in the Lawsuit. We're just getting coffee from them.

Bring your ideas and questions so we can work together to gather and organize the evidence needed to move Brown v Charleston forward to victory and the return of real free speech to an aging City that desperately needs it.

The profoundly disturbing video of City of Charleston mounted police officers threatening to trample peaceful protestors chanting and walking down King Street, Saturday June 14, in a fully legal gathering (less than 25 people requires no permit) shows that the mere filing of litigation hasn’t brought the City to an understanding that tourism does not trump free speech.

Two more major rallies were held in Charleston last weekend, each drawing over a thousand people. Both were held without access to an adequate PA system. That  is more proof that the City is trying to exile free speech. Two City Sponsored Spoleto programs were held in Hampton Park where PA was used. The City cannot constitutionally choose to amplify amusement for tourists while muffling the free speech of American Citizens.

Image, left, No Kings Demonstration, Brittlebank Park, Sun. June 15

The Charleston Democratic Socialists of America are conducting their own fight for free speech, attending council meetings, committee meetings and preparing a “People’s Campaign” set to launch an “economic fast” in the City of Charleston with a press conference set for Wednesday and a launch Friday.  That combined with the horrifying video of mounted police officers threatening peaceful and legal protestors isn’t going to be good for Charleston’s all important Tourism economy.

In contrast, Summerville accommodated over 3000 protestors on Saturday morning with no arrests or violence. Charleston’s program for driving free speech out of the city seems to be working.  Several PA systems were operating in Summerville, most playing upbeat music.

This event is part of Liberate Our Lowcountry, Five Weeks for Freedom and takes place on Juneteenth, a date on which we celebrate our African American Freedom Heritage. This and other #CHSresist events that day are on our #TIDELCact calendar.

Response to AG Wilson - SC, Here is My Report

South Carolina, Here is My Report

To Honorable Alan Wilson, Attorney General for
the State of South Carolina and Candidate for
Governor.

Re: Your Statement of June 10, 2025

From William J. Hamilton, Lowcountry Up is Good, PAC,
Citizen,  Attorney, Writer, Activist

Dated June 11, 2025

Related You Tube Video now online.

Mount Pleasant, SC, USA - As a public official sworn and obligated to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and the people of South Carolina, regardless of their race, state of poverty, sexual orientation or ethnicity, you have vastly more important priorities than setting yourself up up for a four year stay on Arsenal Hill as our next Governor.

You are correct that there is a massive, coordinated effort to protest the campaign of civic vandalism and possible treason by Donald Trump. It is called No Kings Day. We are citizens and your constituents exercising our 1st Amendment rights.

This statement peaceful protesters “radical and anti-American” is a dog whistle to Trump’s MAGA nation, standing by as always for an opportunity for violence with the hope of a pardon.. You represent law enforcement for every citizen of this state. Characterizing us this way is inflammatory and dehumanizing. In advance of these protests, you are fomenting a dangerous misinformation campaign. If your statements are not immediately corrected, SC will suffer for it

Why the SC Lowcountry is Standing Up and Resisting

Millions of Americans are preparing to stand up. In the Lowcountry our organization will choose June 14 as the day to open our Liberate Our Lowcountry, Five Weeks for Freedom Campaign That will be part of what I can assure you will be the most profound and determined campaign of resistance seen in the Palmetto State in over 50 years.

We are not out to ruin Trump’s Birthday, though he deserves it. Trump decided to squander over 30 million dollars on a Soviet style military parade less than a mile long while the nation’s economy stumbles downward, food banks empty without replenishment and hard working people who struggled to reach America face hunters who behave like Nazis.

We are citizens standing up to save our Nation and state. As for Flag day, our free speech demonstrations would be recognizable to John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. We are proud of our effort. We aim to make it peaceful, inclusive and powerful.

The Probability of Violence in SC

It is possible that somewhere there will be violence. SC is a state where people get stabbed to death with hand tools in Walmart Parking lots, shot at children’s birthday parties and where you are adamant that nearly everyone should have the right to carry a loaded gun.

Given our high levels of alcohol and drug use, SC’s culture of violence and our miserable state of civic socialization, many people here simply can’t deal with the challenges of poverty, poor mental health and ignorance. If you, the state’s ultimate Law Enforcement officer, have been unable to keep people safe, it is hardly reasonable to expect ordinary citizens equipped with cardboard protest signs and bullhorns to do so.

Instead of threatening peaceful demonstrators, the state’s attorney general should spend the weekend trying to reduce the shootings sure to mar life here, even if that might reduce income at your families firearms retail stores. Ironically, I need to become your customer so I can pick up kevlar inserts for my bullet proof vest. I must admit the system works for you.

All of the organizers I know in SC are working with local law enforcement to have peaceful demonstrations this weekend. Even in Charleston, where we are suing the City Government over its anti-free speech ordinance in US District Court, the planned demonstrations are permitted, organized and socially constructive. They are based on plans coordinated with local police departments. These demonstrations are likely to be the largest in SC of my adult lifetime.

I myself will be working as a legal observer, monitoring compliance with First Amendment protections in Summerville and Charleston. As the 10th. Anniversary of the Emanuel 9 shootings approaches next week, Lowcountry Liberals have no appetite for more violence.

I Would Rather Go the Beach

I would rather be going to the beach. We all would. However, Trump refuses to govern with kindness and respect. A nightclub was raided in Ladson. Scores of families were terrorized so that a handful could be legally arrested while dozens of others were incompetently and deliberately swept up for political effect. The brave people of Ukraine pay for their enduring freedom with their lives daily. In Gaza people starve and die because no leader involved is brave enough to end it. Neighbors go hungry after thousands of tons of supplies were landfilled on Trump’s orders while privation appears on SC’s streets again.

America has become hungry, unjust and scared.

If the No Kings demonstrations aren’t big enough, we’ll hold larger ones. They will continue until decency and justice returns, even here to red SC.

Threats of Prosecution

Your threat to prosecute people attacking Law Enforcement or destroying property, while appropriate under the circumstances, is hollow. Your prosecutors and courts aren’t capable of trying these cases to jury verdict in large numbers.

SC’s legal system, over which you preside as chief prosecutor, is largely equipped to convict the poor with little resistance. It relies on endless guilty pleas obtained by economic coercion to keep the machine greased. The City of Charleston’s Municipal Court is already struggling to manage the prosecution of 9 peaceful protestors arrested last year, several during their walks home after police allegedly informed them their protest on Marion Square was not a problem. Juries are not going to like these cases. In the current political environment, convictions worthy to be upheld on appeal will be nearly impossible to obtain.

You promise “active coordination” to suppress our Constitutional guaranteed right to assemble, speak and petition our government for a redress of grievances. Where is this “active coordination” in dealing with our states staggering rates of domestic violence, child abuse, and opioid addiction?

We know far more South Carolinians will be beaten, wounded and killed in their homes this weekend than at any of our planned demonstrations. Your law enforcement agencies already know who the people are that will be erupting that violence this weekend from previous reports. Little or nothing will be done because, unlike writing traffic tickets, there is no money in it.

In the end, you ask that people report information “relating to potential riots or crime this weekend.” I am happy to assist. This is my report.

My Report

The United States of America has come under the control of a known Insurrectionist who on Jan. 6, 2021 incited a riot at the US Capital which resulted in the death and injury of many people, including law enforcement.

With the assistance of a foreign born billionaire and Vladimir Putin using unprecedented AI powered internet communication at a total cost of over 300 million dollars almost all of which was provided by 10 billionaire families, he has returned to power. Trump is a convicted felon, a known criminal. Trump has violated the constitution of the United States and its laws thousands of times and is currently in contempt of several court orders. He has destroyed valuable public records and sold pardons to other criminals like himself. He has and continues to encourage acts of violence. He is currently illegally sending Federal troops into the City of Los Angeles against the wishes of its Mayor, Governor and Police Chief to provide and sustain violence and civil unrest.

In response to this, citizen activists across the State of South Carolina have risen up in protest and planned a weekend of No King’s demonstrations and social justice actions across the state on June 14 and 15th. 2025.

It is your obligation as the Attorney General of the State of South Carolina, acting with SLED, other law enforcement agencies and the Governor, to guarantee the safety and security of these citizens as the exercise their highest duty and work as an American,

the peaceful and determined presentation of a demand that our nation return to the practice of decency, kindness and justice which we have imperfectly, but determinedly pursued though our long history.  It is your obligation, by oath, to protect these citizens from MAGA threats and attacks which are or might be made by your own supporters and gun store customers.

We are ready to do our duty as citizens this weekend, with peace and dignity and to turn out from our ranks any who cannot conform to those values.  We hope you are ready to do your duty as our Attorney General.

Lowcountry Prepaes for No Kings Weekend

View this email in your browser

The Largest Social Justice Mobilization in the SC Lowcountry in  over 50 years

As we prepare to protest Donald Trump's angry, violent, and cruel plans for America and the Lowcountry grows, the illusion that the SC Lowcountry is a Red area has collapsed beneath a community of activists and demonstrators, which now numbers thousands.  Despite resistance from right-wing local officials in some Towns and Cities, there are now two more social justice actions every day in and around Charleston. Over six are planned for the upcoming No Kings Weekend, which will begin with Lowcountry Up is Good's Liberate Our Lowcountry Campaign- Five Weeks for Freedom.

Destructive Local Impacts. Locally, over 100 healthcare providers have been laid off at the local VA hospital. Workers terminated face eviction while waiting for their severance pay, which may come at some indefinite time in the future.  Many local food programs are struggling with tje end of Federal food deliveries, which have helped keep people here fed. ICE raids sweep up scores of innocent people to arrest a handful who might have connections to gangs, which in the countries these people have fled, often conscript young men against their will to serve as disposable "soldiers."  More negative impacts are appearing every day. They far outstrip the capacity of local media to detect and report them.

We are organizing three activities are planned to prepare for No Kings Weekend, which are part of Up Is Good's coalition effort. These are not the only preparation activities set for the coming week. Please check our TIDELC Calendar for details, which are constantly being updated. In the rapid rush of events, we are made aware of activity that never makes it onto the public calendar.

On Tuesday, We'll be running a workshop to make large banners for you to use in weekend's rallies and events and in the efforts beyond. We'll be set up to design, trace, and paint banners of 4x15 feet and 5x20 feet. However, with preparation, other sizes are possible. We'll also have a button maker and button-making supplies for 2.25-diameter buttons.  We may do some digital and music production as well. It's time to go big or go home in preparation for "Liberate Our Lowcountry- Five Weeks For Freedom."

The production session will be held at 32 Sowell St. Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 (The Home of the Brave) and the home of Wendy Temple and William Hamilton. Tuesday, June 10, 6 pm until we're done. You can sign up on Google Calendar online at https://calendar.google.com/calendar/event?action=TEMPLATE&tmeid=Y2twbTZjMzM2cGhqZWI5aWM0cTNnYjlrYzRvamFiOW9jY3E2NGI5bTZjcmo2Y2hwNnBnbTZjaGk2MCB3amhhbWlsdG9uMjk0NjRAbQ&tmsrc=wjhamilton29464%40gmail.com

Full details on the Banner and Button Making can be found on our blog at https://lc-up-is-good.blogspot.com/2025/05/banner-and-button-making-on-june-10.html

Thursday, 4 to 6:30 - Outreach in Brownsville/Summerville
We'll follow up yesterday's successful Brownsville effort, which reached over 2o families, with more boots on the ground outreach in Summerville's traditionally African American Brownsville area, basing our operations at the community's oldest African American-owned and operated grocery store, Michael's. We'll greet shoppers and send outreach teams out into the neighborhood to reach selected families we know want to hear from us. Details and signup are available on the TIDELC Calendar.

Wednesday to Sunday - Preparing to Illuminate the American Night
At Sunset, June 15 and the end of No Kings Weekend, we ask our friends and neighbors across the SC Lowcountry and the US to join us in illuminating our "Welcome Home Lights" to call the US back to its traditional values of kindness, decency, and justice. Lowcountry Social Justice Advocates are preparing their lights to challenge the darkness overtaking parts of America. Details on this effort can be found at https://lc-up-is-good.blogspot.com/2025/06/illuminate-your-welcome-home-light-at.html

Preparing to Raise the New Mary Flag
We are recruiting teams to raise the new Mary Flag at this Weekend s demonstrations in and around Charleston. The Flag honors the late Lowcountry Social Justice Activist Mary Smith and has had two stripes added to the original five: one for education and a second for healthcare and wellness. Details on the New Mary Flag. The first and largest of the new flags will be raised in Summerville at 10 am on Saturday.
